Rich in history, the Borough of New Providence dates back to 1720. Today, within its 3.5 square miles, New Providence is a gracious tree-lined community that still cherishes its history, while embracing positive changes. New Providence offers 2 train stations for ease of commuting to NYC. There’s also a robust shopping area and several restaurants. The Borough offers a variety of recreational programs for all ages through its recreation department. There are several parks, a community pool, tennis courts, and Crestview Swim Club available in the area. The Watchung Reservation and Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge are nearby and offer miles of hiking trails. New Providence is known for its friendly atmosphere embodied in its motto, “Nice People, Nice Place.”
